Defensive Acoustics

Defensive Acoustics is the 2025 full-length album from AICHER, the solo project of Berlin-based artist Liam Andrews. A veteran of the experimental scene known for his work with My Disco and EROS, Andrews delivers this seven-track collection through the influential Downwards Records. The album features additional production and contributions from Rohan Rebeiro, further developing the industrial foundations established in the project's 2023 debut. Released as a limited edition LP of 300 copies, the record is characterized as a relentless industrial grinder that blends robotic beats with groaning electronics and metallic textures. The compositions function as reinterpreted recordings of a performance, channeling a heavy atmosphere through the lens of musique concrète and experimental noise. This release reinforces Andrews' position within the contemporary Berlin electronic landscape by prioritizing raw, panel-beat percussion and dense sonic architecture.
