Anthropology

Field Designer, the project of Texas-based sound artist Kevin Tucker, released the six-track album Anthropology in January 2024. Issued through the Austin-based imprint Aural Canyon, the recording continues Tucker’s exploration of the intersection between modular synthesis and organic field recordings. The album utilizes a blend of musique concrète and expansive drone, aligning with the label's focus on experimental and psychedelic ambient aesthetics. Throughout the tracks, the artist employs dense textural layering to examine the relationship between human-made structures and the natural environment. This release follows a series of works that have established Field Designer as a significant voice within the contemporary Dallas-Fort Worth experimental scene. Presented on cassette and digital formats, Anthropology functions as a meditative study of spatial resonance and environmental sound design.
