Works for Last Work

In 2023, German electronic musician Grischa Lichtenberger released Works for Last Work, a ten-track album that compiles and reimagines his compositions for the stage. The project originated as the musical score for Last Work, a performance piece by renowned choreographer Ohad Naharin for the Batsheva Dance Company. Long associated with the Raster label’s clinical glitch aesthetic, Lichtenberger employs a signature palette of fractured rhythms, abrasive digital textures, and cavernous ambient spaces. The release functions as both a soundtrack and a standalone exploration of modern contemporary sound design, characterized by a dialogue between organic tension and mechanical failure. This work underscores Lichtenberger’s ability to bridge the gap between abstract electronic experimentation and the physical demands of contemporary dance.
