The Will of Tongues

Sarah Davachi’s 2026 release, The Will of Tongues, represents a monumental expansion of her established practice in deep minimalism and electroacoustic composition. Released on her own Late Music imprint, the album spans over two hours across thirteen tracks, available in formats including a triple-vinyl set and a double-CD hardback book. The collection is structured around five solo works for historical pipe organs recorded across North America and Europe, interspersed with choral pieces and microtonal interludes for strings, brass, and woodwinds. Notable contributions include performances by Chamber Choir Ireland, the Renaissance flute consort Phaedrus, and long-time collaborators such as cellist Lucy Railton and violists Eyvind Kang and Whitney Johnson. Sonically, the record emphasizes iterative listening and the psychoacoustic properties of sustained sound, utilizing a reduction of materials to explore vast psychic horizons and intimate aural experiences.
