Emanation Body

Emanation Body (2020) is the sophomore full-length album from Many Blessings, the solo experimental outlet of Denver-based musician Ethan Lee McCarthy. McCarthy, widely recognized for his contributions to the sludge and grindcore outfits Primitive Man and Vermin Womb, utilizes this project to explore the intersections of dark ambient, noise, and drone. Released via Translation Loss Records on both digital and vinyl formats, the record was recorded and mastered by Dave Otero at Flatline Audio. Departing from the overt aggression of his primary bands, McCarthy describes the seven tracks as a "slow cinematic burn" intended to evoke the sounds of a void that words cannot express. The album’s sonic palette balances abrasive white noise with a haunting, psychological atmosphere, often likened to the tension of a horror film soundtrack. Compared to his previous work Ripe Earth, this release demonstrates a more deliberate focus on texture and movement, situating it as a significant entry in the 2020 landscape of harsh drone.
