Mirror Shards is a 2025 collaborative album by New Jersey-based multidisciplinary artist Séraphitüs-Séraphîta and Athens-based producer Substak, also known as Kostas Staikos. Séraphitüs-Séraphîta, a co-owner of Blacksmith Noise Records, employs a DAW-less, modular methodology to explore dark ambient, HNW, and granular synthesis. Substak brings a focus on mood and space, drawing from a discography that spans minimal electronic and drone ambient. Spanning five tracks and approximately 28 minutes, the release situates itself within the realm of sound art, utilizing loops and distortion to create immersive soundscapes. The work reflects Séraphitüs-Séraphîta’s broader interest in conceptualism and dadaism, further expanding an extensive catalog of over 100 experimental releases. Together, the duo leverages their respective expertise in modular synthesis and environmental harmonics to deliver a cohesive exploration of dark ambient noise.
