MER MORTE

The self-titled debut from Mer Morte, released in 2022, marks a significant entry into the Belgian ritual-industrial landscape. Based in Huy, the project is a collaboration between musician Toma—known for his work in Volt Voice and Graffen Volder—and visual artist Merry. The album functions as a sonic psychedelic collage, blending audio hallucinations and experimental noise to evoke what the duo describes as a noise epiphany. Recorded at Al'Môjone Studio in Andenne and mixed in Liège, the compositions balance dense drone ambient textures with industrial grit. Issued as a black vinyl LP, the record features the long-form pieces Black Samba and Funeral Fist, while the digital edition includes the bonus track Scratch Acid Kirk. This release positions Mer Morte within a tradition of ritualistic sound design, offering a dark, immersive experience intended for the atmosphere of a midnight Mass.
