Joachim Spieth’s 2022 album Reshape (feat alva noto, ASC, bvdub), released on his own Affin imprint, serves as a collaborative reimagining of works from his extensive career in electronic music. Formatted as a double vinyl and digital release, the eight-track collection was curated to mark the 15th anniversary of the label, specifically revisiting material from his 2021 ambient full-length, Ousia. Spieth, a German producer who emerged from the early Cologne techno scene with releases on Kompakt, has spent the last decade shifting his focus toward deep ambient and immersive sound design. The project features a prestigious lineup of experimental artists, including minimalist pioneer alva noto, drum and bass veteran ASC, and prolific ambient figure bvdub. Sonically, the release traverses a spectrum from the glacial, geological shifts of drone to the rhythmic undercurrents of hypnotic techno, with additional contributions from Simone Giudice, Markus Guentner, and zakè.
